      Our QLD State Government client is responsible for implementing and administering a rigorous integrity framework to the industry. Due to an increase in workload, the team are recruiting a Chemist to be involved in the provision of scientific analytical services. This includes analysis of samples, participation in Research and Development activities, maintaining and operating scientific equipment and complying with the NATA accreditation requirements. Key duties: Undertake analytical activities to screen for and confirm the presence of drugs and prohibited substances in samplesPrepare scientific data associated with screening and confirmatory analysis incorporating effective LIMS and present for quality review in line with methodologyParticipate in Research and Development activities related to drug and prohibited substance isolation, detection and associated data processing system developments, within appropriate quality standard constraints.Maintain and operate scientific equipment and develop a good working knowledge of the scientific principles that relate to analytical methods and proceduresComply with NATA/ISO 17025 accreditation requirements, including quality control procedures, assisting with preparation of procedures, completion of relevant statistics and ensuring that the samples meet forensic requirements.Assist with the implementation of new testing instrumentation and methods where required.The successful candidate will: Recently completed tertiary qualification in ChemistryDemonstrated analytical and deductive skills combined with a theoretical understanding required to extract substances from biological matricesDesired – Laboratory based experience with small molecules from blood or urine samples It is expected that the successful candidate will possess strong oral/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. They will display initiative, attention to detail, and have the ability to work autonomously and unsupervised whilst contributing to the wider team's objectives. The Native Title team has developed a tenure assessment and mapping tool which incorporates a number of spatial information and assessment layers. This project is to review and geo-rectify the exclusive tenure spatial layer. This role responsibilities will involve overseeing the original plan and assessing whether it is correctly represented and rectifying any errors or misrepresentations. The contractor will be required to read and understand old cadastral plans and maps, plot those maps and plans against the current information on the digital cadastral database. Targeted training and specific information will be provided to undertake the project. About you:Experience in GIS and use of GIS systems including ArcGIS ProKnowledge of tenure systemsExperience in the geo-rectification of historical tenure dataRelevant qualifications It is expected that the successful candidate will possess strong oral/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
