      Role OverviewAs part of the IT leadership team, the General Manager, Application Development is accountable for the delivery of project activities, delivering new enhancements, application support, the planning, coordinating and supervising of all activities related to the organisations bespoke applications.You will be responsible for supporting, configuring, and maintaining a suite of applications to ensure maximum business operation uptime and efficiency. Through your understanding of the business, the General Manager, Application Development will help the company reach its goals for productivity and profitability. StrategyWork with the Group Executives and the Chief Architect to define the application strategic road-map and feature enhancement backlog.Lead the development and support of new/existing applications, ensuring that projects match business needs and requirements; ensure secure and systematic coding practices are employed, identify and resolve systems issues, conduct pre- and post-testing of systems and make proper modifications.Develop both long and short-range plans and schedules for the acquisition and installation of equipment, process, application development, Business intelligence and reporting systems.Define and mature the agile ways of working with the drive to deliver daily releases, automation and innovation across the applications.Research and make recommendations on software products and services, conduct feasibility studies for software and system products planned for purchase and give suggestions based on findings.OperationalManage development projects to ensure they meet the company’s business requirements and goals.Manage the backlog and work across the business to ensure that there is a clear prioritisation.Constantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of development practices through agile practices and automation.Provide Application support practices across the organisation linking into the Incident Management processes.QualityEnsure defects are reduced through contemporary testing techniques.Review and evolve practices to ensure that they are fit for purpose and provide the best outcomes.Leverage human centred design techniques to improve existing and future system design and delivery.Ensure that all systems are risk managed and align with the architectural strategy and meet cybersecurity requirements.Own the KPI’s to ensure value is defined and understood. Experience / RequirementsSpecific Knowledge and Skills in Applications and/or DevelopmentDemonstrated leadership experience and success in building strong teams and culture, with a focus on people development, interpersonal skills and succession planning.Leadership experience managing a multi-disciplinary team, ideally gained in an industry where there is a high customer appreciation and focus, both on and offshore.Strong general management experience with demonstrated experience partnering with Executive Leaderships Teams.Appropriate degree and/or industry qualifications and certifications.Experience managing projects with multiple phases and complexity, with multiple vendors and deliverables.Healthcare or health technology experience is highly regardedPersonal Attributes / CompetenciesHighly developed strategic and analytical skills, creative thinking and problem solving.Exceptional interpersonal skills; including an exceptional capacity to manage multiple stakeholdersStrong written and verbal communication.A high degree of flexibility, adaptability and willingness to learn and grow At Randstad, we are passionate about providing equal employment opportunities and embracing diversity to the benefit of all.
