Operator jobs don’t require formal training, but some employers expect you to have vocational education training (VET) qualifications. Pursue a Certificate III in civil construction plant operations to learn how to operate various equipment. To work on construction sites, you need a construction induction card (white card). Operating certain machines also requires a licence from Safe Work Australia. For instance, you may need a forklift licence or a high risk work licence.
