      Reporting to the Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for providing high level mechanical engineering advice and consultancy services to external clients and stakeholders, which includes advice on air conditioning design, equipment selection, reporting, estimating, documentation and inspections. You will possess a strong knowledge of the building services HVAC design, tender documentation and condition assessment reporting background - specifically with experience in air conditioning systems. Key tasks required of the position will include the following:• Provide mechanical engineering consultancy services for the provision of air conditioning systems and installation.• Deliver mechanical services documentation and technical support for mechanical services projects.• Conduct technical investigations into existing and proposed mechanical services installations and advise clients on technical suitability, cost and other requested information.• Responsible for preparing mechanical services terms of reference and assisting with the commissioning of external consultants for capital works building projects.• Assist in preparing mechanical services briefing documentation relating to designing and construction contracts. This involves liaising with the clients when required to clarify requirements and specifications.• Review variations and claims for additional fees submitted by external consultants/contractors and provide advice on their validity and extent.• Review and report on designs submitted by consultants and D&C contractors to ensure that the designs comply with all relevant functional and statutory requirements and quality management procedures.• Provide high level technical advice to clients and project managers.• Undertake a range of Mechanical engineer related projects including estimating, life cycle analysis, option studies, researching and assessing alternative strategies, processes, and procedures, as well as producing reports. This position focuses on ensuring the mechanical services provided meets quality and value for money expectations of clients. Familiarity of specialised knowledge with the requirements of Building Code of Australia and associated referenced Australian Standards relating to air conditioning design is required.
