There is an immediate need for an Environmental Health Officer in the Brisbane South East office with an initial 3 month contract. The responsibility of the Environmental Health Officer is to provide a health and environmental management service which maintains and improves the community standards.In this role you will conduct assessments, inspections and participate in monitoring within the environmental health field, including after hours and on-call duties where required.Assist in the provision of relevant educational programs, and contribute in the development and implementation of these programs. The successful candidate will:Hold recognised qualifications in Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalentDemonstrate high quality, organisational and project management skills including demonstrated track record in effectively administering an activity area to achieve performance indicators.Possess working knowledge and ability to apply legislation across the environmental health field, including undertaking the following tasks:Assessment of development and licence applications; Inspection, investigation and enforcement action;Operation of a range of apparatus/instruments and interpretation of data; And awareness of current and emerging environmental health issues.Display highly developed analytical and research skills including relevant experience in the effective assessment of technical reports and the interpretation of environmental health legislation.Exhibit a high level of verbal communication, negotiation and mediation skills, including achievement in effectively liaising with clients across a diverse range of environmental health issues. Requirements of this role include:A current Open Class C Driver's Licence (Queensland) or equivalent. It is expected that the successful candidate will possess strong oral/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
