Your new role
As the Technical Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving commercial growth by identifying, developing, and managing technical opportunities for nutraceutical and pharmaceutical ingredients. This role beautifully combines technical expertise with customer and supplier facing commercial skills. You will expand sales, support customers with formulation and regulatory guidance, and develop long term strategic partnerships with key suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Advisory: Provide expert guidance on nutraceutical and pharmaceutical ingredients, including functionality, formulation, dosage forms, and stability.
Customer Support: Assist customers with product development, application trials, and troubleshooting. Present technical data, white papers, and application concepts.
Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with supplier and customer R&D, quality, and regulatory teams to ensure technical accuracy. Assist partners with TGA approvals for ingredients and new dosage formats.
Business Growth: Identify and develop new business opportunities across the nutraceutical, dietary supplement, functional food, and pharmaceutical markets.
Account Management: Partner with the sales team to grow a portfolio of manufacturers, brand owners, and contract manufacturers, matching their specific needs with technical solutions.
Market Intelligence: Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and the competitive landscape within the ANZ supplements and pharma sectors. Provide suppliers and internal teams with insights to guide future product investment.
Relationship Building: Foster long term, trust based relationships with key decision makers and technical stakeholders through regular customer visits, technical meetings, and joint business planning sessions.
Industry Representation: Represent the company at major industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events.
Your skills and experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or a related field. A Master of Science (MSc) or an MBA will be highly regarded.
Experience: 7 to 10+ years of experience in technical development or product management within nutraceuticals, food ingredients, or dietary supplements.
Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of nutraceutical ingredient categories, including vitamins, minerals, botanicals, probiotics, proteins, and specialty actives. Experience working within a B2B ingredient supply environment is essential.
Regulatory Understanding: Solid familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as TGA, FSANZ, EFSA, and Novel Foods.
