Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Business Partnering: Provide strategic leadership to the financial partnering team, foster strong relationships with business partners, and offer technical support on finance-related matters and systems. The role involves representing the organization in industry groups and providing thought leadership on financial innovations.
- Financial Management: Oversee critical financial processes, including monthly reporting for the Board, annual budget and reforecast coordination, and managing the yearly operating expenditure and revenue budgets. The role is also responsible for leading the treasury and payroll functions, and supporting major processes like the 5-year Water Pricing Submission.
- Compliance & Systems: Ensure the organization's finance-related policies, procedures, and internal controls align with government and Australian Accounting Standards. The role also includes administering and leading upgrades for financial systems.
- Problem-Solving: Use professional judgment to navigate complex financial issues, provide informed advice to stakeholders, and implement solutions in response to audit findings.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Qualifications: A tertiary degree in Business or Accounting and membership with Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand or CPA Australia.
- Experience: Extensive post-qualification experience in a senior-level accounting or finance role, with demonstrated experience in financial partnering, leading a high-performing team, commercial analysis, and applying Australian Accounting Standards (A-IFRS).
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, and well-developed interpersonal and communication skills to effectively manage stakeholders and team members. The role requires a growth mindset, high personal accountability, and a focus on continuous improvement.
