About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Platform Engineer (Infrastructure Specialist) to join a dynamic team supporting a mission critical, Azure-based infrastructure environment. You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of cloud-hosted systems, with a focus on virtual machine management, patching, monitoring, and operational support aligned with Microsoft best practices.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily operational support for production and non-production environments hosted on Microsoft Azure.
- Manage virtual machines (RHEL and Windows), ensuring performance, availability, and patch compliance.
- Leverage Azure-native tools to maintain system health and implement automation.
- Adhere to cloud governance policies including tagging standards, RBAC, NSG configuration, and HA/DR practices based on the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework.
- Investigate and resolve Level 2/3 infrastructure-related incidents (VM performance, boot issues, networking problems).
- Collaborate with service desk and change management teams to fulfill service requests and implement planned changes.
- Integrate with monitoring platforms (Azure Monitor and Dynatrace) for effective observability and incident response.
- Support cloud-native backup and disaster recovery validation.
- Contribute to technical documentation and internal knowledge bases.
Mandatory Requirements
- Active AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance (must be current)
- Australian Citizenship
- Availability to work onsite, 5 days per week
Essential Skills & Experience
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure infrastructure management.
- Proven experience supporting RHEL and Windows Server virtual machines.
- Strong knowledge of Azure IaaS services: virtual machines, storage, load balancers, NSGs, availability sets/zones.
- Experience with Azure patching tools (e.g., Azure Automation, Update Management).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor and Dynatrace.
- Sound troubleshooting skills across compute, networking, and OS layers.
- Understanding of ITIL based processes (incident, change, configuration, and problem management).
Qualifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Azure DevOps Engineer, or equivalent.
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or similar.
- Experience working in government or highly regulated sectors.
- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using Terraform or ARM templates.
