Job Title: Payroll Officer

Contract: 6-month temporary assignment (11 August 2025 to February 2026)
About the Role: Reporting to the Team Leader Payroll , the successful candidate will join a collaborative team to provide support during peak payroll activities. This is a temporary role designed to bolster payroll operations within a complex environment that involves manual processing and a customised Chris 21 payroll system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle the effective completion of regular payroll queries with timely and employee-focused responses.
- Resolve general queries relating to timesheets, higher duties, and employment terminations.
- Provide support as directed to the payroll team and manager during month-end and quarter-end reporting and compliance activities.
- Adhere to all council policies and procedures.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Mandatory hands-on experience with Chris 21 payroll software.
- Proven ability to adapt to a customised payroll system.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on environment with manual processes.
- High attention to detail and a thorough understanding of payroll processes and timeframes.
Screening Requirements:

- Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
