Your New Company/Role:
As an established organisation, my client is looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to join their team for a 6 months fixed term contract which allows candidates to benefit from pro-rated annual and sick leaves (subject to permanency). The role is to be based in their Warwick Farm NSW 2170 office alongside working with a collaborative team. The role will be based in the office at the start but once the candidate is up to speed - there can be some flexibility.
The role is ideal for someone who has great exposure across end to end Payroll functions where they have worked in a high volume environment and able to interpret a range of awards and Micropay system experience is highly desirable but not mandatory - as long as you have experience in tier 1 payroll systems is acceptable.
About the Opportunity / Responsibilities:
Reporting to a nurturing Payroll Manager; you are responsible for
... - Preparing weekly and monthly payrolls, including processing new starters, reviewing timesheets, exporting and importing timesheets, processing and calculating pay adjustments etc.
- Manage Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting and ensure timely submission to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
- Providing advice to employees on all payroll related matters in a timely manner.
- Interpreting policies, employment agreements, awards, and legislations.
- Calculating Long Service Leave and Termination Pays.
- Processing commission payments.
- Processing workers’ compensation, including reconciling reimbursements.
- Preparing, balancing, and reconciling Payroll Tax, PAYG Tax, FBT, Superannuation and Income Statement.
- Balancing all payroll ledger accounts, including the posting journals.
- Creating and updating Standard Operating Procedures for payroll activities.
- Maintaining data integrity of the payroll system and the time and attendance system.
- Maintaining payroll related records.
- Producing reports as required.
- Assisting with wage evidence for National Training Programs.
- Supporting the Payroll Manager as required.
Ideal Profile
This opportunity is for someone who has experience within an end to end payroll function in a large volume environment. You will also bring:
- Proven experience in an end to end payroll function; 2-5 years experience
- Prior work in a high volume fast paced environment would be beneficial i.e 400-500 employees
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation and compliance
- Experience with General Ledger (GL) and understanding of accounting principles related to payroll.
- Experience in handling payroll reconciliations and statutory reporting
- Understanding of Single Touch Payroll (STP) and other statutory reporting requirements.
- Prior experience in Konnect or Tanda systems highly desirable but not mandatory
- Prior experience in Micropay is highly desirable but not mandatory
- Able to work independently and in a team environment
Benefits
- 6 months fixed term contract (able to benefit from pro-rated annual and sick leaves) and subject to permanency
- Immediate start but open to someone who has notice period
- $85,000 - $98,000 + Super (Based on experience) (Can go slightly higher based on experience and if they tick all the boxes) - this will then be pro-rated to 6 months
