Key Responsibilities
As the Payroll Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll operations across the organisation. This includes:
- Overseeing day-to-day payroll operations with a focus on quality and compliance
- Managing complex payroll issues and acting as the escalation point for internal stakeholders
- Providing expert advice on payroll matters including employee benefits, tax, and superannuation
- Ensuring payroll compliance in line with relevant EBAs, legislation and policies
- Leading data reconciliation, audits, and process quality checks
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives and contributing to system and process enhancements
- Collaborating with internal departments including People Advisory, Finance, and IT
- Leading and supporting a small team while fostering a customer-centric approach to service delivery
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience leading payroll operations within a complex organisation (essential)
- Demonstrated expertise using CHRIS21 (essential)
- Strong working knowledge of Enterprise Agreements, superannuation, and payroll legislation
- Ability to liaise with senior stakeholders and communicate effectively at all levels
- Strong attention to detail and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
- Government or public sector experience highly regarded
