About the Role
Reporting to the Payroll Lead, the successful candidate will be part of a small, collaborative team responsible for providing expert advice and assistance on payroll and employee benefit matters to enhance the customer experience across the department. You will assist in the timely and accurate processing of the end-to-end payroll and support continuous improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake the timely and accurate payroll processing of a high-volume, end-to-end fortnightly payroll.
- Manage legislative submissions including Payroll Tax, Single Touch Payroll (STP), and superannuation payments.
- Provide accurate interpretation and advice on the VPS Enterprise Agreement and other relevant industrial instruments.
- Act as a key point of contact for resolving payroll-related queries from employees and management.
- Calculate and manage leave provisions, including annual, personal, and long service leave.
- Building and generating ad-hoc and scheduled reports using Chris21.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in projects to streamline payroll processes.
Skills & Experience Required
- Mandatory experience using Chris21 payroll software.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar end-to-end payroll role within the Victorian Public Sector (VPS) - highly regarded.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Public Service Enterprise Agreement (VPS EA) and relevant legislation - highly regarded.
- Proven ability to manage high-volume payroll processing with excellent time management skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail, an outcome-focused approach, and the ability to take ownership of results.
