EL1 General Finance Officer
6-Month Non-Ongoing Opportunity | Federal Government | Canberra Based

Randstad is partnering with a Federal Government agency to source an experienced EL1 General Finance Officer for a 6-month non-ongoing position. This role is ideal for a finance professional with strong analytical skills, leadership experience, and a sound understanding of Commonwealth financial frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the delivery of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting activities

• Provide expert financial advice to internal stakeholders and senior executives

• Prepare high-quality financial reports, briefs, and submissions

• Oversee month-end and year-end processes, including reconciliations and accruals

• Support compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and government reporting requirements

• Identify process improvements and contribute to financial strategy and planning

• Mentor and support junior finance staff

About You:

• Proven experience in financial management within the APS or broader public sector

• Strong understanding of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability (PGPA) Act

• Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication, and leadership skills

• Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., TechnologyOne, SAP, TM1, or similar)

• CPA/CA qualifications (desirable but not essential)

• Baseline security clearance (mandatory)

• Police check (mandatory)
