About your next role
Reporting to the Store Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the store to ensure community needs for nutrition, safety, and essential goods are met.
- Support the Store Manager in day-to-day operations and follow a fortnightly roster including weekends and evenings
- Take responsibility for physical tasks including unloading pallets, restocking shelves, and manual handling
- Manage store closing procedures and the reconciliation of end-of-day cash
- Provide coaching and training to local store staff to encourage routine and meaningful employment
- Support café or takeaway operations while maintaining strict food safety standards
- Participate in stocktakes, safety audits, and compliance checks to ensure long-term viability
- Commit to a 6-12 month development pathway to grow into a Store Management role
What you will need to bring
- You will be a resilient leader with a hands-on approach and a deep respect for cultural diversity.
- At least 3 years of experience in retail or a similar fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in using electronic retail systems for point of sale, stock control, and staff management
- Highly effective interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt your communication to people from diverse backgrounds and language abilities
- The capacity to link your daily work activities to ALPA’s core values and mission
- A commitment to work health and safety, including the reporting of maintenance and safety issues
- Physical fitness to stand for extended periods and perform manual handling tasks
Mandatory Requirements
An unrestricted NT C Class driver’s license (or the ability to obtain one)
Certificate III in Retail (or the ability to obtain one)
Willingness to live in remote communities in provided, potentially shared accommodation
- Ability to travel via small light planes (please note weight restrictions of 140kg apply per aviation safety guidelines)
