APS6/EL1 Economist | Influence Key Economic Policy
Randstad is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Economist to join a high-impact team within the Australian Federal Government. This role is available at both the APS6 and EL1 levels, with the final classification determined by the successful candidate's skills and experience. In this pivotal role, you will apply your expertise to analyse complex economic issues, contribute to policy development, and help shape national outcomes. Key Responsibilities:
The responsibilities will vary slightly depending on the classification level:
APS6: Conduct robust economic analysis and research to support policy development. Apply structured thinking to quantitative and qualitative problems.
EL1: Lead economic analysis and provide expert advice on complex policy issues. Develop and apply analytical frameworks to solve a range of economic challenges.
Both:
Utilise strong technical skills to handle, analyse, and interpret data.
Simplify complex economic information into clear and concise narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on practical solutions.
Proven ability to think in a structured manner to develop analytical frameworks.
A strong quantitative mindset with technical data analysis skills.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex concepts.
Competence in building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
Desirable:
A bachelor's or postgraduate degree in economics, econometrics, or a related field.
Experience in the economics of the care economy.
Proficiency with a major statistical software package (e.g., R, Python, Stata, SAS).
