We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Advisory Officer to join a State Government department on a 3-month contract, with a strong possibility of extension. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who can provide high-quality tax advisory services while managing a diverse range of client needs.
About the Role:
As a Tax Advisory Officer, you will be responsible for preparing tax returns of average complexity and delivering high-quality, consistent, and cost-effective advisory services. You will work closely with clients to understand their personal circumstances and provide advice that maximizes the benefits they are entitled to, while also ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete tax returns of average complexity.
- Deliver high-quality advisory services that are timely, cost-effective, and compliant with all legislative requirements and industry best practices.
- Provide appropriate advice to clients to maximize their benefits.
- Collaborate closely with Client Service Officers to ensure the advice is implemented effectively.
- Utilize required systems and processes to manage client matters and suggest improvements.
- Respond to client queries regarding changes to legislation or regulatory requirements.
- Escalate difficult matters and complaints to ensure effective resolution and maintenance of the department's reputation.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with industry standards.
- Exemplify high performance and uphold departmental values.
Your profile will demonstrate:
- The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax advisory and a proactive, professional approach. You will need to be adept at managing competing demands and priorities, balancing client needs with commercial and community service objectives. A key challenge will be to stay current with changes to legislation and regulatory requirements to ensure all advice is accurate and compliant.
- We encourage candidates with a strong accounting background to apply. Experience with H&R Block is highly desirable but not essential. A caring and professional approach to client relations, especially when dealing with sensitive matters, is crucial.
