We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated System Administrator with expertise in Virtualisation and Storage for a 12-month contract role. This position involves participating in routine system administration tasks across various technology stacks, providing essential services to multiple government departments.
About the Role:
As a System Administrator, you will be an integral part of an infrastructure team responsible for storage, server virtualisation, and data protection services. Your duties will include:
... - Administering vSphere ESXi and Aria Suite platforms.
- Managing Virtual Desktop platforms.
- Administering Backup platforms.
- Performing Storage administration (NAS and Fibre Channel SAN).
- Working with Cloud Storage (Azure Files, Azure Blob, and AWS S3).
- Handling Service Requests (new/modify/remove).
- Responding to incidents, engaging with clients and support vendors.
- Performing system updates and patches to maintain infrastructure currency.
- Maintaining technical design and procedure documentation.
- Communicating with clients to clarify requirements, schedule tasks, and confirm successful service delivery.
- Participating in duty (business hours) and on-call (after hours) rosters.
- Implementing higher-risk/impact changes after hours as required.
Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated experience with VMware vSphere ESXi and vCentre.
- Demonstrated experience with Backup and Recovery products.
- Experience with NAS and file storage principles.
- Experience with Fibre Channel SAN.
- Experience with Blade Server hardware.
- Demonstrated scripting skills (within a Linux environment and/or Powershell) for configuration changes, data collection, or task automation.
