A major global consulting firm is seeking a Solution Designer/Engineer to lead the end-to-end design and delivery of complex data solutions for a client in the Australian banking sector. This high-impact role requires thought leadership at the intersection of data engineering, platforms, and project delivery.

The Role: Thought Leadership in Data Solutions
This functional role is accountable for the overall end-to-end solution design, covering data extraction from source systems, ingestion, transformation, and creation of reusable data assets ready for consumption.
Key Responsibilities
Own the End-to-End Solution: Lead and own the entire solution design, working closely with client architects and providing technical leadership to delivery teams.
Design and Development: Develop, test, and support future-ready batch and near real-time data flows/pipelines.
Technical Authority: Present solution designs and architecture in large forums, justifying and defending technical decisions to senior stakeholders.
Innovation: Demonstrate Proof of Concepts (POCs) and working demos for modern data platforms, Big Data, ML/AI, and Cloud technologies (Hadoop, Azure, Python, PySpark).
Mentorship: Mentor junior consultants within the practice and on delivery engagements.
Experience & Technical Skills (Must-Haves)
7+ years experience in the design and engineering of complex data processes and technology solutions.
3+ years experience in a large and complex financial services organization, preferably banking.
Mandatory Big Data & Cloud Expertise: Must have big data platform delivery experience in a Big Data and Cloud Data Lake environment (Hadoop and Azure knowledge required).
Technical Deep Dive: 3+ years hands-on experience in advanced data transformation, data quality analysis, and using Unix/Linux servers.
Architecture & Presentation: 3+ years of experience presenting and defending complex solution designs to large forums and senior stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
Understanding of Data Mesh Architecture and its Domain Data Products.
Experience in data analysis and data modelling (Entity Relationship Modelling, Dimensional Data Modelling).
Hands-on experience with the Atlassian toolset: JIRA, Confluence, and BitBucket.
