Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Solution Architect to drive the end-to-end solution and process design for a major enterprise transformation initiative. Operating within our core Architecture practice, this pivotal role focuses on bridging the gap between two of our largest technology overhauls: a comprehensive Point-of-Sale (POS)/retail back-office replacement and a core Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) modernisation.
During the critical Common Design phase, you will define how cross-functional business processes, such as order-to-cash, pricing, promotions, inventory management, and financial postings, seamlessly operate across a modernised systems landscape. Working under the technical guidance of the Lead Program Architect, you will collaborate closely with systems integrators, business process owners, and dedicated program teams to translate architectural contracts into actionable, high-quality solution designs.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Technical Design
- Cross-Program Mapping: Develop comprehensive current-state and future-state solution architectures for business processes intersecting the POS and ERP ecosystems.
- End-to-End Design: Create detailed, end-to-end designs for cross-functional processes, mapping exact paths across applications, interfaces, and data layers.
- Boundary & Conflict Resolution: Translate defined domain boundaries into workable specifications. Actively identify "orphan scope" (process gaps falling between system boundaries) and escalate them for resolution.
- Option Analysis: Formulate technical solution options and clear trade-off analyses to support decision-making by the Design Authority.
- Definitive Documentation: Produce unambiguous design specifications, assumptions, and architectural decisions that delivery teams can execute without friction.
Stakeholder & Functional Leadership
- Business Alignment: Partner with business process owners and delivery teams to validate that technical designs accurately reflect business intent and operational requirements.
- Vendor & SI Collaboration: Act as the primary architecture counterpart to external Systems Integrators (SIs), reviewing partner designs to ensure alignment with core architectural principles.
- Governance & Escalation: Contribute deep technical analysis to key design decisions, proactively managing dependencies and escalating risks to program leadership.
- Domain Subject Matter Expertise: Apply modern ERP and retail architecture patterns to a complex, multi-brand, large-scale retail footprint.
Architecture Best Practice
- Standards & Compliance: Embed data privacy, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance directly into all solution designs, ensuring strict adherence to healthcare, pharmacy, and regional privacy frameworks.
- Framework Adherence: Utilise structured architecture frameworks, utilizing Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and formal trade-off methodologies.
- Pattern Reuse: Champion the reuse of established solution and process patterns across parallel workstreams, while mentoring and supporting junior team members.
Experience & Skills (Essential)
- Proven Track Record: Approximately 6+ years of dedicated experience in solution architecture and technical design roles.
- Large-Scale Delivery: Demonstrated success designing end-to-end solutions that span complex, multi-system enterprise environments.
- Process Engineering: Strong background in business process mapping and designing workflows that cut across disparate applications or parallel programs.
- Artifact Creation: Proven ability to deliver high-quality solution options, architecture definition documents, and clear technical roadmaps for engineering teams.
- Domain Knowledge: Solid familiarity with enterprise retail operations and core ERP frameworks.
- Influence & Communication: Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to business leaders and influence outcomes without formal authority.
- Experience to modern tier-1 ERP platforms (such as SAP S/4HANA) and omni-channel retail POS systems.
- Strong foundational knowledge of modern integration architectures (APIs, event-driven data flows, master data management).
- Experience navigating regulated, multi-brand environments such as retail pharmacy, healthcare, or consumer goods.
At Randstad, we are passionate about providing equal employment opportunities and embracing diversity to the benefit of all. We actively encourage applications from any background.
