About the Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this role is responsible for developing, embedding, and maintaining risk and compliance frameworks across the organisation. You will lead internal reviews, identify risk exposures, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote a culture of good governance across the institution. This is a strategic and hands-on role where you’ll work closely with leadership to build fit-for-purpose policies and processes from the ground up. Key responsibilities include:
- Develop, implement and maintain robust risk and compliance frameworks
- Monitor regulatory obligations and ensure ongoing compliance across the organisation
- Conduct internal audits and prepare for external compliance reviews
- Identify and assess operational and strategic risks, providing clear recommendations
- Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate risk awareness into decision-making
- Lead education and training initiatives to build compliance capability across teams
Ideal Profile
- Proven experience in a risk and compliance role, ideally in the education, not-for-profit or government sectors
- Strong understanding of risk frameworks, governance, and regulatory obligations
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Capable of working autonomously while collaborating closely with executive leadership
Child Safety
An understanding of and commitment to the safety,wellbeing, and protection of children is essential for this role. Therefore:
- You must hold and maintain a current Victorian Working with Children Check (WWCC) or be eligible to obtain one upon commencement.
- Undergo and receive a clear National Criminal History Check (NCHC) prior to commencing employment, and at intervals during your employment.
