Job Purpose:
The Senior Project Manager will work collaboratively across the business with a range of executive and senior stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered in support of this organisations strategy. The role is accountable for ensuring projects adhere to time, cost, and quality requirements for providing high quality strategic advice and reporting often in connection with technically challenging issues.
The Senior Project Manager will also contribute to business success by combining business insights with expert insights from a project management perspective acting as a key interface between business division and project management specialists.
Key Role Accountabilities:
• Provide project management expertise to the development and implementation of multiple projects within a program of work and/or projects of a complex nature. • Successful delivery of project outcomes that meet strategic business objectives using various methodologies such as waterfall, Agile and hybrid. • Accountable for achievement of project goals and monitoring of project health through the use of relevant measures and controls. • Contribute to the formation of strategic papers and project business cases. • Management of program governance, approaches, delivery plans, communication and reporting to the Director, Project Delivery, Working Parties and Steering Committees. • Identify, develop and implement communication and engagement strategies with internal and external stakeholders at an executive and senior management level to inform, influence, integrate input and achieve project outcomes. • Identify, develop, lead and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with the shared services stakeholders. • Anticipate risks and problems and develop and implement strategies to manage, mitigate and resolve expected and unexpected events and issues. • Partner with established change management specialists to deliver robust change communications and practices to impacted stakeholders (both internal and external). • Establishes and maintains strong critical business relationships with internal clients and partners • Work closely with the Director, Project Delivery, the Senior Manager PMO and the Senior Manager Engagement and Change to manage project governance and ensure delivery of project outcomes and to drive the effectiveness of project outcomes. • Identify, develop, lead and maintain strong working relationships with external stakeholders. • Manage and provide clear direction and guidance to a cross functional project team, including creating, managing and monitoring project accountabilities and daily work flow. • Provide mentoring and guidance to other Project Managers and project team members as required. • Display and foster behaviours in line with the organisations values and leadership model. Key Selection Criteria: • Demonstrated success in leading business transformation projects (including multiple concurrent projects and projects of a complex nature). • PRINCE2 and/or Agile certification • Experience working in the insurance, health and disability or government sector is highly desirable • 5-10 years’ experience in senior project management across multiple industry sectors, including experience and knowledge in the integrated management of scope, time, cost, resources, quality, risk and procurement. • Proven experience in management, coaching and guidance of cross functional teams and environments, ensuring ongoing high performance of project team members. • Demonstrated experience in building high performance teams. • Understanding of project methodologies and associated measurement/ reporting standards and controls. • Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint & Visio
