Randstad is seeking highly motivated and experienced Senior Policy Advisors to join a key government department based in Parramatta. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to significant policy initiatives within a dynamic environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and analysing issues, preparing and delivering draft policy advice to stakeholders, and developing plans for improved solutions and delivery of policies. You'll also provide essential policy advice and subject matter expertise to both internal and external stakeholders.
We are looking for two individuals to fill distinct roles: one will lead a project tracking application processes and submissions, providing reporting and process management, while the other will support a legislative review (Act Review).
Key Accountabilities:
Support the delivery of statewide programs and policy reforms aimed at promoting responsible pet ownership and improving animal welfare outcomes across NSW councils. This includes enhancing regulatory compliance, building council capability, and achieving positive results for communities.
Assist in the management of the NSW Pet Registry, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of pet ownership data to support effective enforcement of companion animal legislation.
Apply a sound understanding of government operations and processes across all responsibilities.
Contribute to the implementation of strategic initiatives and the delivery of complex programs.
Maintain efficient administrative systems and processes to ensure timely and accurate information management.
Conduct research and analysis to support policy development, inform decision-making, and contribute to the evaluation and reporting of policy outcomes.
Engage with key stakeholders to provide updates and gather input on policy and project progress.
Prepare a variety of written materials, including briefs, reports, discussion papers, and project updates.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a similar policy advisory role within a government context.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing high-quality reports, briefs, and policy documents.
Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills.
Experience in either project leadership for application tracking/reporting OR legislative review/support.
