- Paying between $800-1100 + super

We have a Senior Mechanical Cost Estimator position available within the Water Sector for the NSW State Government.
Please note candidates for this position must have a Degree qualification or higher / further education equivalent qualifications in mechanical engineering or related field desirable, along with 5+ years experience in a Mechanical Estimating role for Infrastructure projects or similar.
About the Role
As a Senior Mechanical Cost Estimator, you will provide project mechanical cost estimation services for all stages of Delivery Management projects, building and maintaining competitive pricing schedule databases, and ensuring that WHS, Community and environmental issues are integrated into the development of cost plans.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Prepare project cost plans ensuring project scope, design/specification guidelines and timeline are considered
- Prepare budget estimates and business cases, and deliver in a timely manner
- Manage the pricing schedule and database.
- Analyse spreadsheets to ensure labour and material costs meet tender and project requirements.
- Assist in the development and implementation of cost estimation processes and procedures, including providing input for improvement.
- Assist with benchmarking for cost comparison, including the use of first principles, past projects and other various sources.
- Ensure the consideration of WHS, Community and environmental issues, where applicable, are integrated into the development of all cost plans and estimates.
- Conduct regular reviews and validation of Cost Planning and estimates, highlighting potential issues with key stakeholders and the Project Manager.
About You
You will be an experienced Senior Mechanical Cost Estimator with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Degree qualification or higher / further education equivalent qualifications in mechanical engineering or related field desirable
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical engineering
- Previous experience as an mechanical estimator is essential
- Proven ability to accurately price mechanical works is essential
- Experience of mechanical estimating in the water services industry desirable
- Effective oral and written communication skills at all levels with internal and external stakeholders
