Our Federal Government client is seeking a dedicated Senior Advisor, Data and Information Governance for a non-ongoing APS6 position for 12 months, with a potential 6-month extension.
This role is crucial in collaborating with the organisation to provide exceptional service and guidance in their approach to data and information governance, and the appropriate management of data and information throughout its lifecycle. Your specialist skills and knowledge will enable accountability, transparency, and trust in their data and information. 
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Advisor, you will:
- Identify our client’s key data and information assets, including maintaining the data inventory in collaboration with business stakeholders. 
- Deliver training and provide guidance on data and information governance and the appropriate management of data, information and records, such as within SharePoint and other key business systems.  
- Provide customer service and support the agency’s data and information governance framework, policies, and processes.  
- Assist with monitoring and reporting mechanisms for governance and risk practices to support compliance and highlight areas of exposure.  
- Develop and support complex relationships with internal and external stakeholders.  
- Support the agency’s compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, standards, and best practices relating to data, information and records management, as well as internal policies.

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate the following Essential skills, knowledge, and experience:
- Knowledge of data and information governance and records management principles relating to the confidentiality, security, and management of business records in a government environment.  
- Demonstrated analytical skills, including the ability to assess documents and use data to provide insights and make sound recommendations.  
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to effectively deliver key messages, manage expectations, and tailor your approach based on business context and priorities.  
- The ability to communicate simply and clearly in plain English, without using jargon, and to convey messages succinctly and with empathy.  
- A capacity to sustain a user-focused approach to deliver better services by gaining an authentic understanding of a person’s experience and needs through collaboration and curiosity.  
- The ability to use information to make evidence-based decisions. 
Desirable skills include a strong interest and proficiency in technology with experience in Electronic Document Management and Records Management systems and SharePoint administration.
