Are you looking for a unique opportunity to get involved in flood recovery works and make a tangible difference in your community? We’re currently recruiting for a Road Surveillance Officer to support the restoration of essential infrastructure impacted by the 2022 flood events across a local government area in regional Victoria.
This 24-month fixed-term contract will see you on the ground—literally—inspecting flood-affected assets across the region’s road network. From bridges and footpaths to drainage structures and trees, you’ll play a key role in identifying damage, informing restoration programs, and keeping detailed records to support long-term recovery efforts.
Conduct inspections of roads, footpaths, bridges, and drainage assets
Complete condition and accident reports, supported by photographic records
Assist in developing the flood recovery program by identifying key restoration projects
Collect and enter data into the disaster management system
Carry out asset audits and help maintain infrastructure registers
Operate safely and report hazards or urgent issues as needed
You're someone who’s comfortable working independently, confident engaging with the public, and keen to contribute to infrastructure recovery in a meaningful way.
Experience in road maintenance, civil works or construction
A current Victorian driver’s licence (essential)
Basic computer/data entry skills or a willingness to learn
Great communication and problem-solving abilities
Certificate III in Civil Construction (desirable but not essential)
