We are seeking a dedicated professional to step into a crucial, newly created position. This role is fundamental to the school's ongoing commitment to best practice, focused on building and embedding its risk and compliance frameworks.
About the Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Principal, this newly created role is a unique, standalone opportunity to shape the future of the school's governance. You will be empowered to design, build, and embed the critical risk management and compliance frameworks from the ground up.
As the school's subject matter expert, you will provide essential advice and hands-on support across all operational areas. This is a foundational position with the chance to make a significant and lasting impact, establishing the systems and culture that will safeguard our students, staff, and community for years to come. Key responsibilities include:
- Development and implementation of the school's Risk Management and Compliance Frameworks, ensuring they are practical and understood by staff.
- Maintain and update the school's risk registers and compliance calendars. Monitor the school's obligations relating to VRQA, Child Safe Standards, WHS, and privacy legislation, and advise leadership on any relevant changes.
- Act as a key point of contact for staff, providing timely and practical advice on day-to-day risk and compliance matters, incident management, and policy interpretation.
- Contribute to the review and development of school policies and procedures, assisting to ensure they remain current, compliant, and accessible to the community.
- Assist in coordinating the internal audit program by helping to scope reviews, gather information, and track the implementation of audit recommendations.
- Prepare clear and accurate reports on risk and compliance activities, incidents, and trends for senior leadership.
- Assist in developing and delivering training materials and resources to enhance risk and compliance awareness across the school.
Ideal Profile
- Demonstrated experience (minimum 5 years) in a risk, compliance, or internal audit role.
- Experience in developing and implementing risk and compliance frameworks
- In-depth knowledge of the Australian education sector's regulatory environment, particularly VRQA standards and Victorian Child Safe Standards.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
Requirements
- A current and valid Victorian Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- The ability to provide a satisfactory National Police Check.Benefits
