The Role

The Release Manager is responsible for the establishment and execution of Release Management processes. The role ensures seamless coordination, integrated planning, and pro-active management of release-related risks.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Establish and maintain release management processes in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
• Manage the release schedule, ensuring alignment with technical dependencies, business priorities, compliance requirements, and stakeholder change management.
• Conduct release impact assessments, ensuring the successful coordination and execution of releases.
• Oversee readiness criteria and go/no-go checkpoints, working closely with the business and technology teams.
• Ensure adherence to ICT change management processes, including cyber assessments, penetration testing, and change advisory board (CAB) representation.
• Manage and report on release status, identifying risks, dependencies, and key decisions to stakeholders
• Serve as a bridge between stakeholders such as release, environments, business testers, and delivery teams.
• Be a champion for continuous improvement, leveraging deep experience in ICT Release Management.
• Drive automation efforts within the release management processes.

Essential criteria

1. Proven experience in establishing and managing Release Management processes in an enterprise business system context.
2. Enterprise-level experience in managing Releases and delivering systems based on contemporary platforms and architectures including high level of integration to internal and external systems.
3. Proven experience in, and strong knowledge of, contemporary project management, software development/configuration, testing, system delivery, governance frameworks and methodologies.
4. Proven ability to drive continuous improvement and automation initiatives within release management processes, streamlining workflows, reducing manual intervention, and enhancing operational efficiency.
5. Strong skills to assess the risks related to, and the management of, hotfixes and rollback scenarios.
6. Release management experience in a Federal Government environment.

Desirable criteria

1. Comfortable with new ways of thinking about accessibility and enthusiastic about accessible design & development will be highly regarded.
2. Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecyle and its integration with Change and Release Management
