About the Role
A leading government department is seeking an experienced Project Officer to join its ICT Support Services team. This exciting role offers the opportunity to support high-impact, ICT-enabled projects across a complex and diverse operating environment. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring project efficiency and smooth execution by supporting Project Managers and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day project administration support using standardised tools and methodologies.
- Support project planning, tracking, scheduling and documentation aligned with strategic objectives.
- Conduct research, data analysis, and information collation to assist decision-making and reporting.
- Draft and maintain reports, spreadsheets, and planning documentation using standard office software.
- Organise stakeholder meetings, workshops, and forums—including room bookings, agendas, and minute-taking.
- Prepare project board packs and maintain project registers and documentation.
- Assist in capability uplift initiatives by developing supporting resources.
- Lead product readiness activities, including communications, documentation, and training.
- Log and track support incidents via the department’s helpdesk ticketing system.
- Maintain transparency across stakeholders with clear communication on progress and outcomes.
Ideal Candidate – Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- Proven ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities in a high-demand environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong stakeholder engagement experience.
- Demonstrated experience in ICT-enabled project environments.
- Sound knowledge of project lifecycle and use of project management tools.
- Background or interest in product management and/or AI technologies is desirable.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a high-performing team.
Mandatory Requirements
- Previous experience supporting ICT projects in a complex or government environment.
- Proficiency in project management tools and understanding of governance, cost management, and reporting.
- Able to meet contractual requirements including on-site work for initial onboarding and notice periods.
- Must be available to commence work within the required timeframe.
- Willingness to undergo and provide a valid Criminal History Check.
SFIA Level 3 Capabilities (Desirable)
- Project Support (PROF) – planning, scheduling, tracking and reporting project progress.
- Business Administration (ADMN) – organising documentation, coordinating meetings, and guiding on administrative processes.
- Cost Management (COMG) – monitoring and reporting on project costs, supporting cost-saving initiatives.
