Pipeline Engineer – Gas Networks

... We’re excited to partner with one of our key clients in the energy infrastructure sector to recruit a skilled Pipeline Engineer (Gas Networks Engineer) to join their Major Projects team on a 12 months FTC.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a respected industry leader on critical projects across Australia's gas transmission and distribution networks.
As a Pipeline Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering welding, testing, and quality management solutions across the project lifecycle—from concept design through to commissioning and ongoing asset integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare pipeline engineering documentation including design calculations, scopes of work, specifications, and data sheets.
- Apply knowledge of Australian and international standards for piping and pipeline materials.
- Develop and review welding procedures, including in-service welding, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Review and interpret third-party Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) results for gas transmission and distribution assets.
- Assess and approve third-party welding documentation, including procedures, welder's qualifications, and QA/QC requirements.
- Review and approve Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs) as required.
- Provide hands-on engineering support during construction, commissioning, and urgent leak repairs.
- Prioritise tasks and manage deliverables across multiple projects while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
About You
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical, Materials, or Welding Engineering.
- Member of the Institution of Engineers Australia (or equivalent professional body).
- Proven experience in gas transmission, distribution, LNG, or heavy process industries.
- Strong technical knowledge of pipeline welding and repair procedures to AS2885, AS4041, and AS4645 standards.
- Solid grasp of project management fundamentals—scope, schedule, cost, quality, and risk.
- Confident working collaboratively across national teams and driving engineering excellence.
