About the Role

Our client is a VIC government organisation based in Narre Warren. They are currently seeking a Payroll Team Leader to come in and join their team on a temp contract until 31st July with possible extensions.

Candidates for this role must have:

• High volume end to end payroll processing experience

• Previous payroll leadership experience

• Proven knowledge and experience with Chris21 system

• Previous government experience (Desirable)

Key responsibilities will include:

• Team Leadership & Supervision: Supervise, train, and mentor Payroll Officers to enhance skills and ensure team performance.

• Payroll Operations & Integrity: Oversee end-to-end processing, maintenance, and distribution of payroll data while resolving queries efficiently.

• Financial Management & Budgeting: Manage the salary budget (including FBT), ensure accurate business unit costing, and complete GL and Superannuation reconciliations on time.

• Compliance & Workplace Safety: Stay updated on payroll legislation and maintain a safe working environment in accordance with the OH&S Act 2004.

• Data Management & WorkCover: Secure and maintain historical payroll records for compliance, and manage WorkCover reporting alongside the OH&S Coordinator.

• Departmental Collaboration: Support and assist department colleagues to achieve individual, team, and corporate goals.

About You

You will be an experienced Payroll leader with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.

The successful candidate will possess:

• High volume end to end payroll processing experience
• Previous payroll leadership experience
• Proven knowledge and experience with Chris21 system
• Previous government experience (Desirable)
