About the Role
Our client are a well-known local government organisation providing a range of services and infrastructure to the Hume City community, including waste management, urban planning, and public works like parks and community facilities.
Candidates for this position must have proven experience as a Payroll Officer, along with experience with Chris21 payroll software.
As a Payroll officer, you will provide timely and accurate payroll services to the organisation.
Key responsibilities will include:
- End-to-End Fortnightly Payroll Processing: Manage all aspects of the payroll cycle, including timesheet collection and data entry, ensuring data accuracy, completing the payrun, and managing the production and distribution of pay advice, along with processing and reconciling the superannuation file.
- Payroll and Employee Master File Maintenance: Accurately update and maintain all employee records within the payroll system (including new starters, personal details, deductions, and superannuation choices) to ensure data integrity.
- Superannuation Administration and Compliance: Handle all administrative tasks related to employee superannuation in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements, including system setup and communication with the fund.
- Information Management and Archiving: Ensure the accurate filing and secure archiving of all payroll-related documentation, including personnel files, maintenance records, and timesheets.
- Employee Customer Service: Provide timely, efficient, and empathetic responses to all employee payroll and entitlements inquiries, ensuring clear understanding of the information provided.
- Process Improvement and Documentation: Actively participate in the review and enhancement of payroll procedures and continuously update relevant documentation and checklists.
About You
You will be an experienced Payroll Officer with proven experience with Chris21 software, and reliability in previous positions:
The successful candidate will possess:
- Knowledge of and experience with the CHRIS21 payroll system and payroll environment.
- Good IT skills including PC, word processing, spreadsheet and email applications.
- An understanding and aptitude for the undertaking of payroll tasks and responsibilities.
- knowledge of EB and/or Industrial relations, Policies
- Ability to interpret EBA
- Understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality on payroll information.
