About the role:
EOS Space Systems develops a wide range of opto-electronic systems with a range of electronic control and instrumentation sub-systems. The position is for an Optical Engineer within the EOS Space Systems R&D team. A successful candidate is expected to undertake optical design, assembly, alignment, testing and maintenance. Also, writing technical documentation and reporting is part of the routine.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the development of new optical subsystems, primarily electro-optic sensors for ground-to-space applications.
- Work alongside other engineering disciplines and communicate system requirements.
- Contribute to the instrumentation of cutting-edge opto-electronics subsystems.
- Combine novel technologies or concepts to support the innovation and development of EOS IP.
- Support the Engineering teams and communicate activity and progress to the respective discipline manager and VPs.
- Undertake and document investigative experiments to inform the company’s research activities

Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics/Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with optical design or optical instrumentation.
- Experience with the alignment and operation of complex optical systems.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Experience with Python or a programming language (Matlab, C++) is desirable.
