Randstad has been given the exclusive opportunity to recruit for an opportunity for our clients in the South - East suburbs of Melbourne. Our clients work in a niche Equipment Manufacturing market, who are industry experts, leaders in the market and looking to add a new member to their Engineering team.
As their new Mechanical Engineer you will report to the Project Manager and work closely with the current Drafter to support with preparing and reviewing detailed technical drawings, and ensuring efficient operation of the drawing office.
About this opportunity:
- Drawing and Modelling:
- Perform technical drawing and 3D modelling work using Autodesk Inventor and Vault to support engineering design projects.
- Create and update technical drawings and models to meet specific design and manufacturing requirements.
- Sales Preparation:
- Prepare approval drawings for customer review, ensuring all specifications and customer requirements are clearly documented.
- Workshop Package Preparation:
- Working closely with the production and workshop team to provide drawings and technical information ensuring clarity and accuracy of the information.
- Drawing Office Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the drawing office, ensuring smooth workflow, adherence to project timelines, and maintaining an organised filing system.
- Technical Support:
- Assist with technical queries from both internal teams (engineering, manufacturing, etc.) and external stakeholders (customers, suppliers).
- Troubleshoot issues related to drawings, models, and technical specifications.
About you:
- Ideally 3+ years of experience in a similar role
- Mechanical Engineering Degree Qualified
- Experience in Manufacturing ideal - Heavy/Equipment/Sheet Metal
- Proven experience in Autodesk Inventor and Vault, with the ability to create detailed technical drawings and 3D models.
- Experience with 3D CAD modelling and PDM systems.
- Ability to mentor/supervise a Drafter - experience doing this previously is ideal
- Solid understanding of engineering design processes and workshop practices.
- Experience in preparing technical documentation such as approval drawings, MDRs, and manuals.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure to meet deadlines
