We are seeking a motivated Marketing and Communications Officer to join the People and Place directorate. In this role, you will provide vital operational and administrative support to the Marketing and Communications team, helping deliver the Community Plan through engaging storytelling and strategic outreach.
About your next role
Working closely with the Marketing and Communication Lead, you will manage a broad range of communication projects and channels. Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing clear and concise copy for websites, media releases, speeches, and internal reports.
- Developing and implementing marketing campaigns for events, programs, and initiatives.
- Managing the development of quality creative assets such as digital ads, flyers, and posters in line with brand guidelines.
- Coordinating media placements and preparing responses to media enquiries.
- Monitoring the Marketing and Communications inbox and ensuring timely responses to stakeholders.
- Attending official events to provide social media support and community engagement.
- Assisting with budget monitoring, financial transactions, and the production of strategic plans.
What you will need to bring
To be successful in this position, you will be a meticulous professional with a high level of attention to detail and a collaborative spirit. You will bring:
- A Certificate (or higher) in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or Business (or equivalent experience).
- Able to pass a National Police Check
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Working knowledge of software programs across Microsoft and Adobe suites.
- Demonstrated experience managing social media platforms and analyzing performance metrics.
- Strong relationship-building skills to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- A good understanding of local government functions and governance requirements (desirable).
