About the Role
The Head of Information, Knowledge and Games Learning for Brisbane 2032 will be responsible for creating and executing a strategy to capture, share, and apply knowledge throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games life cycle. This senior role involves building systems and processes to document and share knowledge from planning to legacy, ensuring a culture of continuous learning, and aligning with IOC knowledge management standards. The ideal candidate will have proven leadership experience in knowledge management, a strong understanding of adult learning principles, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment. The goal is to ensure a successful event and create a lasting legacy of innovation and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a knowledge and learning strategy aligned with IOC standards, Games-time needs, and legacy goals.
- Advise executive leadership on knowledge priorities to ensure operational readiness and long-term impact.
- Manage participation in IOC-led learning programs, including observer and secondment initiatives.
- Develop and implement systems for capturing and sharing Games knowledge, including lessons learned.
- Establish governance for managing knowledge assets, ensuring they comply with IOC and Australian standards.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and collaboration across all functional areas.
- Measure the effectiveness of learning initiatives to inform future planning and decision-making.
Skills and Experience
- Proven leadership in knowledge management or learning and development with a track record of designing and implementing enterprise-wide systems.
- Expertise in strategic planning and execution, with the ability to translate a vision into practical solutions and legacy outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and change leadership skills to influence and collaborate across diverse teams and cultures.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as Knowledge Management, Information Science, or Learning & Development.
- Experience in fast-paced, dynamic environments like major events, start-ups, or government projects.
- Familiarity with Olympic and Paralympic knowledge transfer protocols and principles.
- Certification in project or change management (e.g., PRINCE2, PROSCI).
