Are you looking for some project work for the end of the financial year? Our client is looking for a financial accountant for the end of the financial year. You will work with the Executive Manager Financial Performance to ensure compliance with legal and policy requirements and identify emerging trends and plan strategic responses. As well as Financial Management, Financial Reportal, External Audits and Financial risk management.
About the Role
You will focus on financial activities such as management and reporting to ensure the ongoing sustainability of the business. This role will involve supporting organizational growth, promoting a modern, sustainable financial and service delivery agenda.
- Identify and analyse issues and opportunities relevant to the functions of the section and recommend appropriate strategies.
- Provide the Executive Manager with strategic advice, informed reports, policies and business plans as required.
- Ensure all financial reporting including the Annual Financial Statements are finalised in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and applicable legislation
- Ensure the completion of all statutory financial reporting that all accounting related activities are undertaken with the highest ethical standards and in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.
- Work with the Finance Data and Systems team to monitor budget allocations and report variations and discrepancies and make and implement recommendations for remedial action.
- Foster collaboration, coordination, and information sharing across departments to support the Community Plan vision and outcomes.
- Present at appropriate forums, briefing meetings, public seminars and related events as required by the Executive Manager.
- Develop and utilise robust financial models to analyse various scenarios and outcomes.
- Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and upgrading of financial software systems,including ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.
About You
We are looking for detail-oriented and reliable individuals who can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. You will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in either Accounting or other relevant discipline combined with at least three years’ accounting and one year management experience, with a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
- delivery of Annual Financial Statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and relevant legislation.
- Demonstrated experience in the development of financial models and undertaking scenario analysis to understand complex information and predict financial outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in developing or contributing towards the development of financial policies in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and relevant legislation
- Demonstrated experience in the review and monitoring of Long-Term Financial Plans with consideration of changing service levels and funding options.
- Demonstrated experience in balance sheet and grant reconciliations.
- Able to pass a police check
- Demonstrated analytical, conceptual and diagnostic skills to develop practical and innovative solutions to individual and organisational challenges.
