Randstad Senior Finance is excited to partner with a specialist insurance provider seeking a dedicated and proficient Financial Accountant for a 10-month temporary contract based in Melbourne's CBD. This role reports to the Finance & Operations Manager - Australia and is integral to ensuring the accuracy and compliance of the company's financial operations.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the precise processing of financial transactions, contributing to budgeting and forecasting, and ensuring all compliance obligations are met. You will play a key role in providing stakeholders with valuable insights to support decision-making.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
... Financial Integrity: Ensure all financial transactions are accurately processed in accordance with accounting standards and relevant legislation.
Month-End & Reporting: Prepare month-end adjustments, timely monthly management reports, and annual financial statements.
Accounts Management: Handle accounts receivable processing and provide support and monitoring for accounts payable (excluding insurer accounts).
Asset & Intercompany Accounting: Maintain the fixed asset register and manage intercompany balances.
Compliance & Tax: Ensure adherence to accounting standards, tax regulations, and insurance regulatory requirements, including the preparation of FBT, GST, Income Tax, and Stamp Duty lodgements.
Budgeting & Analysis: Contribute to the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasts, and produce reports and dashboards that offer insights into business performance.
Year-End & Improvements: Support the year-end finalisation by coordinating with external accountants and auditors and assist with ongoing improvements in accounting functions.
Knowledge & Experience:
Qualifications: CPA or CA qualified with a degree in Business (Accounting) or Commerce.
Experience: Proven experience in an accounting role with a solid understanding of financial processes and controls. Experience in financial services or insurance is advantageous.
Technical Skills: Well-developed knowledge of accounting principles and procedures. Must have established skills in Xero and capable using Microsoft Excel and Power BI for reporting and business insights. Experience with NetSuite is also an advantage.
Attributes: We are looking for a candidate with high attention to detail, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and a proven ability to take initiative.
This role may occasionally require work outside of standard hours.
