About the Role
This is a permanent, full-time position that requires a strategic approach to event management. The role involves an end-to-end event lifecycle, from initial planning and ideation to post-event analysis. Your primary focus will be on the execution of a major three-day trade expo, a project that will be a significant part of your year-round responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will also be keen to get involved in improving our processes and systems, finding ways to free up time to explore new event opportunities You'll be a key member of the expo team, collaborating closely with colleagues and getting involved in the ideation and creative stages of event planning.
What You'll Be Doing
- Developing and executing a comprehensive event strategy that aligns with business objectives. This includes managing budgets, timelines, and vendor selection.
- Overseeing all operational facets of the event, ensuring flawless execution on-site. You'll manage everything from floor plans and booth logistics to power distribution and supplier flow.
- Acting as the primary point of contact for over 400 suppliers and exhibitors. You'll need to navigate complex needs and expectations, solve problems on the fly, and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with all stakeholders.
- Leading negotiations with venues, suppliers, and vendors to secure the best terms and value. You'll be responsible for managing a substantial budget and ensuring the event remains profitable.
- Working closely with the expo team and other internal departments to ensure seamless integration across marketing, sales, and logistics. You'll be a leader in creative sessions, contributing ideas and guiding the team toward innovative solutions.
- Proactively identifying potential issues and developing contingency plans. You'll need to think on your feet to resolve challenges, from unexpected logistical hurdles to last-minute requests.

- You thrive on building and maintaining relationships with a diverse group of internal and external partners. Your communication is clear, confident, and persuasive, allowing you to manage expectations and find common ground even in challenging situations.
- You are a seasoned negotiator, comfortable securing favourable terms and resolving disputes with vendors and suppliers to ensure the best outcome for the event.
- While operations are key, you also enjoy contributing to the creative vision of the event. You're a team player who is excited to brainstorm new ideas and work with colleagues to bring innovative concepts to life.
