We’re working with a well-known and growing commercial fit-out company based in Sydney CBD, specialising in projects up to $5 million in value. They’re now looking to add an Intermediate Estimator to their existing team, reporting directly to the Estimating Manager.

This company has been established for over 10 years and delivers high-end fit-out and refurbishment projects, including local government and council works ranging from $500k to $5M. Sectors include education, commercial offices, police stations, and hospitality. With a healthy mix of negotiated and competitive tenders, they’re known for their client-focused approach, collaborative culture, and the consistent quality of their work - supported by a proactive Business Development Manager who helps secure a strong pipeline of future work.
The Role
As an Estimator, you’ll be involved in pricing projects from concept through to final submission. You’ll collaborate closely with the Director and Estimating Manager to prepare competitive tenders and contribute to value engineering, supplier negotiations, and scope reviews. This is a growing business with a professional yet agile culture and a close-knit team that celebrates success - including an annual performance-based bonus.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse project plans, specifications, and documentation
- Prepare detailed take-offs, measurements, and Bills of Quantities
- Conduct site visits and attend tender meetings as required
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing
- Support the Design Manager with cost planning for negotiated works
- Identify, analyse, and mitigate risks that could impact project cost, schedule, or quality - using your previous experience with a commercial head contractor (not a residential builder or a only a subcontractor)
- Report to the Estimating Manager and collaborate closely with the Business Development Manager
- Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
What We’re Looking For:
- Ideally 3+ years’ experience as an Estimator in commercial fit-out/refurbishment
- Strong knowledge of construction methodology, sequencing, and ability to interpret drawings
- Confident pricing projects up to $5M
- Experience with estimating software such as Buildsoft Cubit, CostX, or similar (training provided if needed)
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills when dealing with subcontractors.
