About the role:
- Team Leadership & Management: Lead, train, mentor, and motivate the maintenance team to achieve operational excellence.
- Budget & Planning: Develop and manage maintenance and project budgets, allocating resources efficiently and controlling costs to ensure effective operations.
- Maintenance Operations: Design and implement a robust preventive maintenance program to achieve an impressive 95% uptime. Conduct regular inspections, perform and oversee repairs, and manage machine/line changeovers efficiently for automated equipment.
- Technical Expertise: Ability to use your hands-on skills to replace bearings and seals, perform MIG/TIG welding, and troubleshoot faults using engineering and electrical diagrams when needed. You'll work with HVAC systems, PLCs, pneumatics, hydraulics, CNC, and liquid fill/pack equipment.
- Systems & Reporting: Leverage MEX or other CMMS to track daily activities, maintenance history, and inventory. Generate essential reports, SOPs, and documentation, and manage spare part inventory and ordering processes.
- Projects & Continuous Improvement: Lead capital and improvement projects in collaboration with the CEO. Conduct root cause analysis, implement solutions for plant reliability, identify process bottlenecks, and drive automation improvements. You'll also evaluate and repurpose unused equipment.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all maintenance activities align with GMP and support certification requirements. Implement and uphold OH&S standards and permit systems, and supervise contractors on-site to ensure compliance.
About you:
- Strong Mechanical and Electrical aptitude (Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Degree with Electrical aptitude is ideal)
- Experience with PLC systems and programming (preferred).
- Proficiency in welding (MIG/TIG), HVAC systems, and reading technical diagrams.
- Understanding of GMP and food manufacturing standards.
- Experience with MEX or Dynamic 360.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Forklift license and/or experience with material handling equipment (preferred).
- Experience with Ammonia plant and freezers (preferred).
- Understanding that there may be weekend work when required with time in lieu
