Responsibilities:
- Provide expert technical advice and support for maintenance and operation of rollingstock fleet.
- Be able to familiarise and gain an understanding of the principles and practices of the relevant standards, relevant legislation including the Queensland (QLD) Electrical Safety Act and business requirements to develop and establish manuals and procedures for the maintenance and operation of rollingstock.
- Complete engineering investigations to improve the reliability and performance of rollingstock and associated equipment by monitor rollingstock performance, developing investigation plans and complete tests, analyse data and make recommendations.
- Develop scopes of work, specifications, instructions, design drawings and any other documents to the required standards in relation to rollingstock component reliability while reducing maintenance costs.
- Manage safety, reliability and cost improvement projects in relation to rollingstock modifications, rollingstock overhauls and general maintenance.
- Investigate new technologies and develop electrical systems to enhance the safety and reliability of the rollingstock fleet.
- Conduct quality audits on rollingstock maintenance procedures and practices in accordance with established standards.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers to maximise team performance by providing performance feedback, advice, encouragement, training and professional development.
Requirements:
- Possession of formal qualifications in engineering is required (ideally Bachelor of Engineering – Electrical). A post graduate qualification in an appropriate discipline would also be highly desirable.
- If successful be willing to undertake and pass a CAT3 Medical through our clients Medical Provider - please note this would be at the candidates own cost at $310.00
- Extensive knowledge of the technical operation, maintenance requirements, servicing and repair of rollingstock and associated equipment.
- High level of skill in carrying out rollingstock fault-finding investigations, computer based testing equipment, component failure analysis and trial modifications and providing technical support, reports and advice to relevant stakeholders.
- High level of skill in developing and continuously improving electrical systems, strategies, scopes of work and modifications to improve rollingstock performance, reliability, safety and cost.
- High level of skill in formulating procedures, quality principles and introducing new technologies for the purchase of new components and maintenance of existing equipment.
- High level of communication, consultation, negotiation and engagement skills with a range of internal and external stakeholders and suppliers
