- Daily Rate: $602.55 per day (excluding super)

About the Role
As an EL1 Service Designer, you will lead and deliver complex design initiatives as part of a multidisciplinary team. You’ll speak with users, map out current experiences, and design better ways of delivering services. You’ll also run workshops, collaborate with teams across government, and help turn research into real change..
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and run workshops using design-thinking methods
- Plan and carry out user research (surveys, interviews, workshops)
- Create and update journey maps, service blueprints, and user personas
- Use research findings to suggest service improvements
- Promote user-centred design in how services are planned and delivered
- Work closely with teams from policy, design, and technology
- Review and assess different service ideas and solutions
- Help communicate the future vision of services to teams and stakeholders
- Make sure all designs meet government, accessibility, and legal standards
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in service design or similar roles within agile, multi-disciplinary teams
- Proficiency in tools such as Miro, Figma, Mural, Creately
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Human-centred and inclusive design
- Journey mapping, persona development, and service blueprinting
- Research planning and facilitation of user testing and interviews
- Visualising and communicating service improvements
- Ability to manage ambiguity, shifting priorities, and deliver under limited direction
- Experience communicating design intent and research outcomes to varied stakeholders
Desirable
- Experience in the disability, social services, or public sector
- Familiarity with APS service delivery frameworks
- Working knowledge of SharePoint, Jira, MS Suite, Qualtrics, or comparable research tools
- Experience transforming research into actionable service insights
- Understanding of the APS Values and Code of Conduct
