We are seeking a suitably qualified Procurement Services Manager to step into a pivotal role, modernising and embedding all procurement activities for a small, agile government agency. You won't just follow policies—you'll write them, ensuring every dollar spent achieves the best outcome for the Commonwealth.
The role
This role is about strategy, implementation, and expertise. You will be the authority on procurement, working within a small, supportive team where your contribution is highly visible and deeply valued.
... Strategy & Policy Development: Update and create internal policies, templates, and guidance materials to ensure full compliance with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules and drive best practice.
End-to-End Leadership: Lead and manage all procurement processes from planning and tendering through to contract negotiation and ongoing management.
Compliance & Risk: Be the go-to expert ensuring strict adherence to government procurement policies and legal requirements. Conduct risk assessments and develop effective mitigation strategies.
Efficiency & Value: Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and achieve value for money in all activities, implementing innovative and sustainable procurement practices.
Stakeholder Management: Build strong internal relationships and provide expert advice and training to staff. Manage key supplier relationships to foster effective, high-performing partnerships.
Team Support: As a valued member of a small agency, you will also support and back up other service delivery in finance capabilities, broadening your impact across the organisation.

You are a seasoned professional with a proactive, strategic mindset and a dedication to integrity.
Public Sector Expertise: Demonstrated experience leading and managing procurement functions within the public sector, coupled with strong knowledge of government procurement policies and relevant legislation.
Strategic & Analytical: Proven strategic thinking and problem-solving skills to tackle complex challenges. Strong analytical ability to interpret data, prepare detailed reports, and make evidence-based decisions.
Relationship Builder: Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to effectively build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Qualifications/Experience
Highly Desirable: Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting, procurement, business administration, or a related field.
An Advantage: Professional certification in procurement.
