About the role
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director, Community Services provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and drives innovation across our Community Services and NDIS programs. You will be responsible for upholding our values of trust, family, respect, and teamwork, ensuring our practice upholds safety, dignity, and cultural integrity in all remote and urban service delivery.
Strategic Leadership & Governance
- Provide visionary direction for Community Services and NDIS programs, ensuring services are responsive, community-led, and innovative.
- Partner with the CEO to advocate for clients, families, and communities, representing the organization with integrity to government and sector partners.
- Drive the implementation of the Strategic Plan, embedding clear and consistent processes for NDIS plan budget management, approvals, and governance.
- Establish meaningful, community-aligned outcome measures and provide transparent, strengths-based reporting to the Board of Directors.
- Lead the strategic oversight of risk management across clinical, operational, financial, and reputational domains.
Cultural & Team Leadership
- Be guided by our Cultural Advisors to embed the "Our Way" and the "Proper Approach" into daily practice, ensuring initiatives champion cultural safety.
- Build and nurture a strong, values-driven Community Services workforce through proactive workforce planning, reflective practice, and the active mentoring of Aboriginal leadership pathways.
- Foster a culture that prioritises respect, collaboration, psychological safety, and accountability.
Service & NDIS Program
- Provide expert oversight of NDIS team operations, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of policy changes and ensuring systems are efficient, transparent, and client-focused.
- Ensure full compliance with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, including the safe delivery of high-intensity supports.
- Lead program innovation and continuous improvement, ensuring all initiatives are evidence-informed and co-designed with families and communities.
- Facilitate seamless integration between Community Services, Clinical, Research, and Education teams to deliver holistic supports
What you will bring:
- Experience in a senior leadership role, with demonstrated success managing a geographically dispersed workforce
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Health, Disability, Community Services), or relevant experience.
- Allied Health qualifications or a clinical background are desired
- Willingness to travel to remote communities (which may include light aircraft or 4WD travel).
- Ability to obtain and maintain NDIS Worker Screening clearance.
- Demonstrated success in co-designing and delivering programs with Aboriginal communities in genuine partnership with local workers, ensuring culturally safe remote service delivery.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective and respectful engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people from diverse cultural and language backgrounds.
