🌳 Development Planning Arborist – Contract Role
Hourly Rate: $47 - $52 + Super
Duration: Monday 16th June – Friday 5th September 2025
Hours: Full-time, 38 hours per week
Location: Council in Melbourne’s northern suburbs
A council in Melbourne’s north is seeking a qualified and experienced Development Planning Arborist to support their planning and development team during a busy period. This is a fantastic opportunity to make an immediate impact, supporting urban development while protecting and enhancing the urban forest.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess planning proposals involving tree removal, pruning or potential impact to trees.
- Provide expert arboricultural advice and prepare clear, professional reports.
- Investigate potential breaches relating to vegetation protection and assist with enforcement.
- Liaise with planning officers, residents and stakeholders to resolve tree-related matters.
- Act as Council delegate in decision-making processes for relevant applications.
...Ideal Candidate:
- AQF Level 5 (Diploma of Arboriculture) or equivalent experience.
- In-depth understanding of arboricultural practices and local planning frameworks.
- Knowledge of the Planning and Environment Act 1987.
- Confident communicator with strong report-writing and problem-solving skills.
