Are you a passionate and experienced curator with a flair for creating engaging, community-focused art programs? Randstad is partnering with a prominent Local Government organisation in Melbourne to find a talented Curator to join their dynamic team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to bring your vision to life by developing and delivering innovative exhibition programs and public engagement initiatives. You'll be at the heart of the community, fostering cultural expression and supporting the professional development of local artists.
What You'll Do:
Develop & Deliver: You'll be responsible for creating and evaluating an annual exhibition program and public programs that align with the Council's strategic objectives. This includes managing day-to-day gallery operations and coordinating promotional materials.
Connect & Collaborate: Build and maintain strong partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including artists, community groups, schools, and government agencies. You'll represent the Council within key arts and cultural networks.
Plan & Strategise: Contribute to the development of policies, strategies, and plans for galleries and cultural activities. You will also oversee the annual Expression of Interest (EOI) process for exhibition applications and prepare submissions for external funding opportunities.
Who We're Looking For:
We are seeking a proactive and skilled professional who is ready to make an immediate impact. The ideal candidate will have:
A Degree or Diploma in Visual Arts, Museum Practice, or a related field, coupled with relevant experience. Consideration will also be given to those with lesser formal qualifications but substantial experience in the visual arts or cultural sector.
Demonstrated curatorial experience in a gallery or museum, with a focus on community and local government settings.
A proven track record of developing and implementing programs that increase community access to the arts, enhance audience engagement, and drive visitation, particularly for underrepresented communities.
Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, with experience in preparing reports, grant submissions, and project briefs.
Experience in a local government context is considered an advantage.
A valid driver's license is required.
