About your next role
You will lead the hands-on operational management of the Remote Australia Employment Service (RAES) Program, driving social innovation and sustainable economic development for First Nations People.
- Provide strategic leadership to program participants while managing a team of remote part-time staff.
- Deliver comprehensive physical and administrative support to the RAES site, including logistics, procurement, and staff rostering.
- Facilitate culturally appropriate skill-building and employment opportunities to enhance participant's quality of life.
- Initiate and support social enterprise projects that promote community involvement and empowerment.
- Build and maintain proactive engagement with employers, training providers, and local stakeholders to expand development opportunities.
- Conduct regular community consultations to ensure program planning is responsive to local needs.
- Monitor performance metrics and financial outcomes to ensure the sustainability of community projects.
What you will need to bring
You are a community-focused leader with the ability to navigate complex remote environments and a deep respect for cultural practices.
- Previous experience as an Employment Consultant, Site Manager, or equivalent role within the Community Development Program (CDP) system or RAES.
- High-level competence in the Microsoft Office Suite and internal business systems to ensure professional and accurate reporting.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt your communication style for people of various education levels and ethnic origins.
- Proven experience working within remote Indigenous communities and a background in community service delivery.
- Excellent planning and time management skills, with the ability to manage resources and multiple stakeholders effectively.
- Skills in data collection and analysis to drive continuous program improvement.
- An undergraduate degree in health, human, social, or community services (or progress toward one) is highly regarded.
Mandatory Requirements
- Ability to travel to remote ALPA communities via vehicle (unsealed roads) and small light aircraft.
- Compliance with third-party aviation safety guidelines (maximum weight limit of 140kg for light aircraft travel).
- Alignment with ALPA’s values and purpose to empower First Nations People.
