As a Communications Officer, you will develop and execute effective communication strategies that promote Council’s services, projects, and events. Your work will help enhance community understanding and strengthen Council’s reputation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement communications plans for Council initiatives
- Produce high-quality content for various channels, including websites, media releases, posters, flyers, and magazine articles
- Write speeches and contribute to Council’s quarterly magazine
- Manage weekly email newsletters using Campaign Monitor
- Upload content to the Squiz CMS platform
- Oversee outdoor advertising, including street banners and bus shelter campaigns
- Support media inquiries and coordinate photo shoots
- Assist with social media content creation and publishing
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, media, journalism, marketing, or a related field
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Experience developing and implementing communications strategies
- Ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging content
- Proficiency in digital tools such as Campaign Monitor, Squiz CMS, and basic Photoshop (desirable)
- Strong planning and organizational capabilities
- Digital literacy across relevant software and online platforms
- Flexibility to attend meetings and events outside standard hours
- Current driver’s license
