About the Role
As a Civil Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, and execution of civil works on large-scale resource industry projects. You'll ensure all work is carried out in compliance with project specifications, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements, while actively promoting a culture of safety and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Health, Safety & Environment: Champion my client's cultural program, ensuring all civil work practices adhere to the highest safety standards and environmental policies. Actively promote and enforce OHS & E policies, aiming for zero tolerance of unsafe practices.
- Technical/Role Specific:
- Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of civil activities on-site.
- Ensure all work complies with project specifications, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise daily with the Project Manager regarding schedule and critical path items.
- Provide technical guidance and support for civil systems and works.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during the project.
- Provide direction to the shift Supervisor in relation to the critical path of the project.
- Track and report work progress to key stakeholders.
- Assist with key critical tasks and help up-skill personnel on specialist tasks.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to identify inefficiencies and improvements in safety, man-hours, and resources.
- Provide strong input and demonstrate high ownership during the project planning phase.
- Work closely with Project Manager, Project Controls, and Workforce Planning for effective project planning and scheduling.
- Assist with processes and procedures to ensure professional and efficient site operations.
- Maintain professional and productive relationships with clients.
- Actively participate in pre-start meetings, information sessions, and client presentations.
- Effectively manage and resolve HR issues, escalating when required.
- Provide mentoring, training, and coaching to Supervisors and Leading Hands.
- Lead by example and positively engage the workforce.
- Participate in and be involved with cost control practices.
- Work closely with the Project Manager and Divisional Manager in identifying personnel with potential for further technical training and progression.
- Business Development & Financial Management: Contribute to business growth and actively seek innovative ways to improve cost-effectiveness.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all civil products and services meet my client's strict quality standards.
- People & Culture: Foster a culture of respect and team spirit through effective leadership, development, and training.

What You'll Bring
- Knowledge & Experience (Essential):
- Minimum 8 years' experience in a similar Civil Superintendent role on large resource industry projects.
- Experience dealing with a range of discipline techniques.
- Particular Skills (Essential):
- Strong knowledge of civil systems and standards.
- Excellent understanding of safety and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Strong safety and people management culture.
- Demonstrated ability to provide direction and mentoring to personnel.
- Ability to manage adversarial situations and negotiate positive outcomes.
