Are you an experienced Actuary seeking a new challenge? Randstad is recruiting for an APS6 Actuary on behalf of a federal government client. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated professional to join a dynamic team in Geelong and make a significant impact.
About the Role:
As an APS6 Actuary, you will hold a team leadership position with delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and manage risks across a range of activities. You will be responsible for the leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management, and decision-making for your team.
This role offers a high degree of autonomy and accountability, requiring you to use your initiative and judgment to interpret legislation and policy, applying established practices and procedures to achieve key outcomes. You will provide detailed technical, professional, and policy advice on complex problems and may be involved in strategic planning, program and project management, and policy development.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Extracting, cleansing, and preparing data from various sources, particularly the data warehouse, and advising on appropriate data checks.
Updating and developing regular performance monitoring reports.
Supporting the division to fulfill statutory requirements by providing data and analysis for reporting to the Board, Minister, and for public data sharing.
Using statistical and mathematical modeling techniques to perform analytical work on a variety of tasks, including actuarial monitoring, scheme projects, and cost-benefit analyses.
Assisting in the design of actuarial, statistical, and mathematical models to address business issues.
Undertaking ad hoc modeling requests and report production.
Effectively communicating work progress and outcomes both verbally and in writing.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
A strong background in actuarial, statistical, and mathematical modeling.
Experience in data extraction, cleansing, and analysis.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
The ability to interpret legislation and policy.
